John Boyd named Rogers’ next president and CEO
08/15/22 01:12:pmThe Rogers Behavioral Health Board of Directors announced on August 11 that John Boyd, PsyD, MHA, was selected to serve as Rogers’ next president and chief executive officer. John will succeed Pat Hammer, who announced his retirement in May.
“The Board was incredibly impressed by the caliber of candidates and believe that John is the right individual to lead the Rogers organization into its next phase of growth,” said Rick Andritsch, the board chair, in the email announcement.
John joined Rogers in January as Hospital Division CEO. Bringing an extensive background in healthcare administration, John came to Rogers from Sutter Health, where he served in a variety of roles since 2008 including CEO for Mental Health & Addiction Care Services. See his full bio here.
“I want to thank Pat Hammer for his leadership and mentorship during my time at Rogers,” John says. “I’m humbled to have the opportunity to serve and lead alongside my incredible Rogers teammates."
The Board’s unanimous decision was based on John’s extensive leadership with CEO experience in behavioral health, his passion and involvement at the national level in contributing to the direction of behavioral health, and his strategy and vision for elevating Rogers to the next level.
“We are also fortunate to have a highly talented team of operational, medical, and clinical leaders who will work in collaboration with John to ensure Rogers’ ongoing success,” wrote Rick in the announcement. “We are extremely optimistic about the future of Rogers and our Mission under John’s leadership. We thank each of you for your contributions and dedication to Rogers and our patients and families.”
John’s transition to the president and CEO role is effective on October 1. At that time Pat will continue with Rogers in a consultative role with the Board and senior leadership. He will continue to co-chair strategic planning with the Board and will focus on growth and development opportunities for Rogers. Over coming weeks, John and Pat will develop a transition plan, and they will provide updates as decisions are made.
“I want to congratulate John on being selected as the incoming president and CEO,” says Pat Hammer. “I also want to extend my 100% support to John and the senior leadership team during this period of transition. I am excited about the future of Rogers as we enter this next era of success.”
Pat notes that Rogers has had only two presidents and CEOs over the last 30 years: David Moulthrop served from 1993 to 2012, followed by Pat who assumed the role in 2012.
“I hope the very best for John and wish him a long and successful tenure as our new leader,” Pat says. “I want to thank everyone for your support, and I look forward to cheering on the Rogers team for many years to come!”
