Honest, Open, Proud program rebrands as Up to Me
01/16/19 12:55:pmHonest, Open, Proud—an evidence-based program designed by WISE to help people make safe and informed decisions on how to disclose mental health challenges—has been rebranded as Up to Me.
The program has adapted versions for different populations, including parents/caretakers with a child living with mental health challenges, survivors of suicide attempts, and teens and college aged youth, among others.
“As we have been expanding our program reach, we have been evaluating how we might improve program delivery. One recommendation was to reconsider both the name of the program and its design,” says Dr. Sarah Reed, PhD, lead for Up to Me.
Seeking input on a new program name, WISE conducted an online survey with people who identified as having a mental health challenge, being a mental health professional, or being a parent/caregiver of a child with a mental health challenge. Sarah says that WISE also worked with SERVE, a local marketing agency, and the Rogers Marketing team to come up with the new name.
“So far both the new name and design have been incredibly well received by our facilitators and community partners,” she says.
Program materials were also given a facelift to make them more inviting, intuitive, and streamlined. Sarah says that the new program design and name change have been incorporated into new materials and is being used for new trainings. It was also shared with the 691 trained facilitators of the program through the program’s December newsletter.
“We are incredibly excited by the changes that occurred to increase the usability, reach and accessibility of this important program,” Sarah says. “We are grateful to our primary funder, the State Department of Health Services, and our other generous funders who have entrusted us to make strategic changes to further guide program implementation.”
