09/28/20 11:28:am

sddefault (5).jpgRogers proudly kicked off its first-ever series of Facebook Live events, to provide advice and support to the general public on mental health challenges caused or exacerbated because of the pandemic.

The Facebook Live sessions have been hosted by Rogers experts, including:

  • Sanjaya Saxena, PhD, psychiatrist
  • David Jacobi, PhD, lead psychologist of child and adolescent CBT services
  • Peggy Scallon, MD, medical director of Focus Depression Recovery adolescent residential care
  • Michelle Maloney, PhD, executive director of addiction services
  • Laura John, APSW, clinical supervisor
  • Joshua Nadeau, PhD, clinical director

Michelle Kalz, director of business development; Katie Zapfel, director of Marketing and Communications; and Janet Gatlin, regional outreach manager, have assisted as moderators.

The events have explored teen addiction, helping kids return to school, parenting during uncertain times, virtual care for mental health, and anxiety disorders during the pandemic.

Dr. Jacobi says, “The Facebook Live presentations have been an effective way to reach a variety of individuals, from mental health professionals to families. The option to watch the event live or view the recorded event at a more convenient time has made these presentations available to thousands of people.”

Jaclyn Peters, digital marketing lead, has been one of the people spearheading our Facebook live series. She says that the platform has allowed us to address and answer questions that are on the minds of many as we navigate the unknowns of the pandemic together.

“These broadcasts provide a unique way for Rogers to connect with the public in a more casual, conversational tone,” she says. “It’s exciting to see all of the hard work behind the scenes come together during the broadcast to ultimately help more people who are struggling with mental health in our communities.”

More Facebook Lives are currently being scheduled – watch of more details on the Rogers Facebook page.
