Brown Deer team takes on volunteering at Ronald McDonald House, Feeding America
11/21/19 11:06:amThe team in Brown Deer is building trust and spreading word of what Rogers does by volunteering at various community events throughout the year.
Jessica Pitre, clinical services manager, is leading this initiative and says that each team was tasked with choosing a community cause that they’re passionate about. Teams were given a month of the year to setup a volunteer opportunity. At each event, the team also wears branded “Rogers Reaches Out” T-shirts that were designed for their volunteer efforts.
“Participation in the volunteer events is completely voluntary, but as with most things at the Brown Deer clinic, things get a little competitive, so every team strives to have the best event and most participation,” Jessica says.
So far, Brown Deer’s team held a donation drive for the Ronald McDonald House, collecting much needed toiletries, snacks, stuffed animals, and gift cards. They also helped sort food donations for Feeding America in preparation for the upcoming holiday season. Looking ahead, Jessica says that the next event is helping wrap holiday gifts at the Boys and Girls Club of Milwaukee.
“The first couple of events have gone really well, and we are excited for many more to come,” she says. “I am so proud of these teams and how they quickly embraced the community outreach idea. Everyone has highly stressful, time consuming jobs and busy lives outside of Rogers, yet there was absolutely no hesitation to give even more of themselves to volunteer and participate in these events. There are not enough words to express how much these teams impress me on a daily basis.”
Rogers added Community Outreach as a new strategic priority last year. Kudos to Team Brown Deer for embracing community needs and making this happen!
