Christopher Takala, DO

Medical Director, Brown Deer and Child and Adolescent Services, Psychiatrist

Christopher Takala, DO, is a board-certified psychiatrist who serves as the medical director of Rogers' Brown Deer campus as well as the medical director of Child and Adolescent services. Dr. Takala is committed to empowering patients and families and utilizing evidence-based interventions. He frequently works with medical students, residents, and fellows from the Medical College of Wisconsin. His clinical interests involve delivering care in a multidisciplinary setting and destigmatizing mental illness across a wide variety of mental health diagnoses. His research themes focus on improving the delivery of care to patients seeking mental health services.

Dr. Takala received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Midwestern University. He completed his adult psychiatry residency at the Mayo Clinic, where he also completed his child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship. Dr. Takala is also clinical assistant professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Academy of Consult-Liaison Psychiatry.
