(Oconomowoc, Wis.) Stephanie C. Eken, M.D., F.A.A.P., a regional medical director with Rogers Behavioral Health System, will address the issue of childhood anxiety at the 2015 National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) conference on February 6 in Nashville, TN. Eken will co-present a workshop session “Therapeutic Approaches to Reduce Family Accommodation in Adolescents with Anxiety Disorders” with Eddie Tomaich, manager of the Child Center at Rogers Memorial Hospital.
NATSAP’s annual conference brings together hundreds of mental health and allied professionals who work with children, adolescents and their families. Members include therapeutic schools, residential treatment programs, wilderness programs, outdoor therapeutic programs, young adult programs and home-based residential programs.
Eken serves as the regional medical director for Rogers Behavioral Health–Nashville, which is scheduled to open in May 2015. The Nashville location will offer two levels of OCD and anxiety treatment: an intensive outpatient program (IOP), which consists of treatment three hours a day, four days per week; and a partial hospitalization program (PHP), which consists of treatment six hours a day, four days per week. At both levels of care, treatment often lasts four to six weeks.
“I am excited to have this opportunity to bring Rogers’ high quality care to the children, teens and adults in the Nashville area,” says Dr. Eken. With separate programming for adults and for children and adolescents, the Nashville location will utilize evidence-based treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy along with exposure and response prevention. Dr. Eken will be joined by board-certified psychiatrists, psychologists and therapists in these intensive, specialized treatment services.
