(Oconomowoc, WI) Rogers Behavioral Health will begin offering specialty outpatient care for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) at its Minneapolis-area location on May 22. This is Rogers’ first PTSD program outside its home base in Wisconsin for treatment related to trauma.

The PTSD partial hospitalization program will be joined by new intensive outpatient programs to complement existing services for treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety and depression and mood disorders.

“As an important area that I’ve focused on for most of my career, I am extremely pleased that we are able to add the PTSD program,” says Tracey Lichner, PhD, clinical director and psychologist for the Eden Prairie location. “Between eight to 14 percent of men and women in the United States have PTSD at any given time, with women more than twice as likely as men to be challenged by it. There is definitely a need for specialized services.”

The Rogers’ program will provide cognitive behavioral therapy and a specific therapy called prolonged exposure for the treatment of PTSD, which can result from traumatic experiences such as violence, sexual assault, serious accidents, and childhood physical or sexual abuse. Prolonged exposure, which helps individuals emotionally process the trauma and reduce trauma-related fears, is the most scientifically tested and proven treatment used to effectively treat survivors of all types of trauma.

The PTSD and mood disorders programs are for adults. Rogers’ OCD and anxiety services are for children, teens and adults. Patients attend a partial hospital program for five days a week, six hours a day, while intensive outpatient programs are five days a week, for three hours a day.

The addition of new programs coincides with the one-year anniversary of Rogers Behavioral Health–Minneapolis. Later this summer, Rogers plans to add eating disorders services.

The Minneapolis office, located at 6442 City W Pkwy #200, Eden Prairie, is part of a growing network of regional specialty centers which Rogers has added to extend convenient, local access to its specialized behavioral healthcare. The sixth regional location, opening soon in Philadelphia, is Rogers’ next location.
